Etats-Unis : une fillette de sept ans se voit prescrire de la marijuana thérapeutique
Mykayla Comstock, une fillette américaine âgée de sept ans victime d’une leucémie, s’est vu prescrire de la marijuana thérapeutique afin de limiter les effets secondaires liés à son traitement contre le cancer.
Âgée de seulement 7 ans, Mylayla Comstock s’est vue prescrire de la marijuana thérapeutique. Victime d’une leucémie, la petite fille qui se surnomme elle-même « brave Mulayla » (courageuse Mylayla) doit faire face quotidiennement aux effets secondaires liés à son traitement contre le cancer. Nausées, agitation, perte d’appétit… Afin de diminuer ces effets, l’enfant s’est vue prescrire par son pédiatre de la marijuana thérapeutique, devenant ainsi la plus jeune consommatrice de ce type de drogue dans l’Etat de l’Oregon, aux Etats-Unis, nous l'apprend le site du Huffington Post.
Une pratique controversée
Si la maman de la petite Mykayla semble convaincue des bienfaits de la marijuana thérapeutique sur sa fille, son père, lui, craint les effets de cette consommation sur son développement mental. Et pour cause. Bien qu’aux Etats-Unis la marijuana thérapeutique soit légale dans 18 Etats, certains chercheurs s’inquiètent des conséquences à long terme de cette pratique. Ainsi, une étude américaine réalisée cette année suggérait que la marijuana (thérapeutique ou non) avait tendance à amoindrir les performances cognitives des consommateurs…Actuellement aux Etats-Unis, 2201 malades du cancer sont autorisés à consommer du cannabis pour faire face à la maladie et à son traitement. Parmi eux, 52 enfants sont concernés.
